Prior to joining Market Designs, Howard Kress was the Vice President of Consumer eCommerce at Worldspan. In that role, he directed all aspects of Worldspan’s industry-leading eCommerce business development. He oversaw account management of seven of the world’s 10 largest online travel sites including Expedia, Orbitz, Priceline, Hotwire and Site 59, as well as international sites lastminute.com, eBookers and Priceline/Hutchinson Asia. During his management of consumer eCommerce, bookings grew more than 100% year over year and market share careened to 65%.
Before joining Worldspan, Howard was successful in helping a number of companies grow their sales. In his position as Vice President of Sales with Atinera Americas, he was instrumental in helping this start up create its sales and marketing functions and sign several partners. In his job as Senior Vice President of Business Development with Whiplash, he built the technical sales team and successfully signed 300 contracts with leisure travel suppliers. He led the SoftAd team of technical, customer support and sales to successfully establish a Midwest division office for its eCommerce solutions software. As Director of Sales at Sato, he signed partnership agreements with 3M, IBM and several Fortune 100 companies leading to $400 million in annual travel sales. He achieved unprecedented sales as Director of Sales with Galileo and grew market share of 6 points in less than five years. As Vice President of Operations with Carlson, he managed operations for a 30-branch unit with $125M in revenue.
Howard began his career in the travel industry with United Airlines in reservations and customer service. He holds an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and a BA from the University of Michigan.
